From Space to Soil: agriBORA’s Billy Adwar Explores Earth Observation Innovations in France

At agriBORA, we pride ourselves on harnessing Earth Observation (EO) data to address pressing societal challenges in Kenya, such as financial inclusion and sustainable agriculture. This commitment recently took center stage as our Business Engineer, Billy Adwar, represented agriBORA during an enriching exchange visit to France and Belgium.

Organized by Expertise France as part of the Data Governance initiative, the visit brought together Kenyan stakeholders, including public and private sector players, to explore the vast potential of data-driven policy development, sustainable data infrastructure, and cross-border partnerships.

The Power of Earth Observation in Transformative Decision-Making

A central theme of the visit was the transformative role of EO in policy and decision-making, with a particular focus on uplifting living standards in Kenya and across Africa. While EO data holds immense potential, discussions highlighted a crucial challenge: the significant gap in downstream applications and the need for greater public awareness of its value.

At agriBORA, we’re addressing this gap head-on with innovative products like:

  • agriKOPA: Unlocking financial access for smallholder farmers.
  • agriMONITOR: Enabling data-driven crop management and planning.
  • agriMAP: Delivering actionable insights for sustainable land use.

Through these solutions, agriBORA not only empowers farmers but also serves as a testament to the transformative power of EO data when applied effectively.

Building Bridges in the EO Ecosystem

The exchange visit facilitated meaningful engagements with key organizations operating in upstream and downstream EO applications, paving the way for collaborations that can drive sustainable development.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to Expertise France for curating such a well-organized and impactful program and to the Kenya Space Agency for recognizing the importance of private-sector inclusion in advancing Kenya’s EO landscape.

A Commitment to Sustainable Development

As agriBORA, we remain steadfast in our mission to demonstrate the real-world applications of EO data in addressing societal challenges. Together, with our partners and stakeholders, we are forging a path toward a more sustainable and data-driven future for Kenya and beyond.

Billy Adwar’s participation underscores our belief in innovation, collaboration, and the power of data to shape brighter, more sustainable livelihoods. Stay tuned as we continue to bridge the gap between technology and impactful solutions for the communities we serve!
